"The factual material on this subject is so enormously scattered in journals and books pertaining to travel, ethnology, geography, medicine, zoology, etc., etc., that is an almost impossible task to aim at gathering all available facts.."
F. S. Bodenheimer, Insects as Food (1951)
Calling all field researchers! Follow the link below to participate in the Insects-as-Food Survey.
The goal of the survey is to first identify general global patterns, and second to develop a global database of standardized scientific identifications and nutritional values.
You will be asked to fill out a questionnaire reporting your observations of insects being used as food. Observations can be of human or nonhuman primate populations, anecdotal or well documented, and the population can be the focus of study or another the participant has spent significant time among (such as an archaeologist’s host community).
The survey should only take 5-10 minutes. If you have multiple populations to report, you are encouraged to take the survey multiple times.
