As a faculty member in the Department of Anthropology at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, I serve as an advisor to students in our MA and PhD programs.
WSU is the only MA program in anthropology in southeast Michigan and our PhD program stands apart from others in the state because of our urban setting and connections to the city of Detroit.
We currently have graduate students pursuing projects in cultural, linguistic, archaeological, and biological anthropology, as well as in medical anthropology, business/organizational anthropology, and museum studies.
I mentor students in biological anthropology, particularly in topics such as evolution of the human diet and bioarchaeology. I am also very interested in taking students interested in all areas of entomophagy anthropology. In addition to my specific interest in the topic, the Department of Anthropology at WSU has faculty strengths in topics such as food, globalization, business anthropology, and urban anthropology, any of which can help a student develop a strong PhD project related to different aspects of insects as food.
